Many people of African descent living in Britain and the USA today are linked by a common history: their ancestors were forced into slavery between the 16th and 19th centuries. Their struggle to achieve civil rights - the rights of all people to social and political freedom - has been hard fought. This book looks at the battle against discrimination and segregation, and the growth of the Civil Rights movement.
