This book describes how physics and chemistry are used inprocess of determining nature of various astronomical objects. Celestial mechanics describes how physics is applied in order todetermine the positions and motions of astronomical objects. Described studies related to large scale structures of theuniverse are described in physical cosmology. However, they arenot a part of astrophysics. In astrophysics it is described howchemistry and physics are applied to figure out the nature ofcertain astronomical objects.
Astrophysics is a branch ofastronomy (Astronomy + Physics = Astrophysics). Variousprinciples from physics and chemistry are described inastrophysics. These principles are useful in ascertaining thenature of heavenly bodies, instead of their positions or motionbehavior. Following objects are studied under this particularfield:SunStarsGalaxiesExtrasolar planetsInterstellar mediumCosmic microwaveBackgroundMany things related to this field and their area of studieswould be described in this book.
It is going to be short andsweet even multiple books are not enough to cover wholeconcept of astrophysics at once. Book will start by describingthe history of astrophysics. In the history, all important names, foundation of basic concepts would be covered. It will really behelpful for fresher since all basic concepts would be describedand explained well. Astrophysics are usually learned or studiedin two categories or sectors.
First one is observationalastrophysics and second one is theoretical astrophysics. Both ofthem are equally important since theoretical knowledge isimportant when one tries to apply these concepts practically. Inthe same way, there is not meaning of learning theories thathas no use in practical implementation. In this book, bothsectors are described in individual chapters. In those chapters, each important concept of these two sectors will be covered.
Popularization is another important concept of astrophysics. It isalso covered in a separate chapter. Overall, this book is acomplete package for understanding basic concepts ofastrophysics. Despite of this basic tag, these concepts are notthat easy to understand since astrophysics is a hybrid conceptof astronomy and physics.
