An Ancient Howl

Sometimes, when the storm rages and the wind howls through the trees, you wriggle under the covers and pull the duvet high. Late at night, when the moon is full and high, glowing headlights in the distance mimic glowing eyes in the hedgerows and bushes. On nights like these, when you can hear the crack of a twig, the sound of branches tapping on the windowpane or the soft, low growl of a distant engine heard amid the wind and rain.
On nights such as these can you really be sure you are safe? Or is there something more sinister out there in the darkness?
