Stacey Ferguson was only six-years-old when he established his independence on Memorial Day weekend back in 1956. The declaration introduced unavoidable changes. Staking a claim on his freedom gave him time to think, and in doing so, made him keenly aware of his flaws, his surroundings, his desires, even what he sought from a simple kiss. Four years later in 1960, he met a girl his same age on the exact anniversary of that development. Arlene Rogers became the best friend he ever had.
